Holiday Tips with Dr. Pusillo

I wish you and your loved ones a Christmas full of authentic experiences, bountiful expressions of joy ,and an unending supply of unconditional love.

I wish you freedom from oppressions, depression, aggression, and the burdens of life that prevent the quality of life you deserve.

Traditional images of the first Christmas, often depicted animals and people existing  in harmony; sharing and appreciating  a time of peace and  contemplation. While our pets cannot appreciate the miracles’ of Christmas, they often share in our celebrations. While our pets share  our celebrations, we need to be reminded that too often our desire to include pets in family celebrations may result in unwanted consequences so I provide the following:

May your dog not vomit on the guest’s shoes  piled by the door.
May your cat not produce a large hair ball onto the newly cleaned carpet.
May your dog not find the tray of chocolate cookies inadvertently  forgotten on the coffee table.
May your cat not drink the heavy whipping cream left unattended while you  greet incoming guests.
May your dog not find the soiled diapers thrown out in a non covered trash basket in the bathroom.
May your cat not urinate on the pile of the guest’s coats left on your bed  .
May your dog not see strange little creatures  (children) playing in and around its dog food or water dish.
May the strange little creatures that have never seen your dog before, not try to chew, touch, or play with dog toys.
May your cats litter box be isolated from the strange little creatures that seem overly curious .
May your pets be isolated from  guest pocketbooks and coat pockets that may contain over the counter or prescription medications.
May your pets be isolated from direct contact with poinsettia and holly decorations.
May your pets avoid eating the little pieces of children toys, electrical gizmo’s, watch batteries, and  the silica gel packs that often are found in packaging materials.
May your pet avoid chewing on the electrical cords associated with Christmas trees and other decorations.
May your pets avoid being severely burned from hot liquids, candles,  fireplaces and wood burning stoves .
May your pets  avoid eating or contacting harmful fungi, molds, or insects that may be brought into the house along with fire wood.
May your pets have plenty protection from cold , ice, and snow.
May your pets have plenty of fresh clean water and wholesome fresh food.
May your pet never be allowed to wear personal cloths or foot protection without proper supervision by you.

I wish you the best advice and care for your pet in 2011.
