Nasty little bugs, but don’t worry there are several products on the market to control possible infestations.  What can be overlooked in the midst of ridding your fur-friend of these ‘bugs’ is proper de-worming.  Some products do a broad spectrum ‘clean-out’ of parasites that might be living inside your pet.  Be sure that when choosing a proper preventative medication you ask for the full explanation of what each product does.  There are products that kill fleas on contact and some just ‘sterilize’ the fleas so they cannot reproduce.  There are some products that cover heartworm and internal parasites as well as fleas.  Take into consideration your pets lifestyle and risk of exposure.  Remember, especially if little children are interacting with your pet, make sure you get stool samples checked regularly and make sure you fully understand what your preventative covers.
